The tale of Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, from the view of a housemaid. A lovely concept and I think well-played, though I'm a sucker for the fiction of "this is an old journal I found". Note though, these supposedly cleaned-up journals of the maid discovered much later, and there is absolutely a use of the n-word and I'm like "WHO LET THIS HAPPEN?" One, okay sure this fictional historical lass might have used it in that situation, but why am I seeing it, Actual Author, re-write your sentence and ALSO! If the concept is that a more modern (pretty modern, from context) transcription of those journals then why did that fictional editor leave it in? I dunno man, what the fuck. Also, the ending felt like a soft landing and not quite earned.
Graphic: Child abuse
Minor: Racial slurs
