Entretenido e interesante

Leer a Isabel Allende siempre es un deleite. El último libro de ella que leí fue Violeta, y este me lo recordó bastante. Pero me pareció interesante la elección de cubrir un periodo de la historia de Chile (y del mundo) bastante específico: la guerra civil de 1891.
Me cautivó la hisitoria y las aventuras de Emilia. La familia Del Valle tiene historias infinitas y es de mis tramas favoritas cada vez que me topo con alguno de sus personajes.
Entretenido y rápido de leer. Un bello recorrido por Chile de norte a sur, a través de sus idiosincrasias, política y paisajes mágicos. Una carta de amor al país donde nací, pero también una historia que se parece mucho (quizás demasiado) a otras de la misma autora. En cualquier caso, una buena lectura.

While I appreciated this tale of a female reporter carving her way in the world and even becoming a war correspondent, this wasn’t my favorite Isabel Allende novel. I was missing some of the emotional pull as well as further exploration about her own grappling with her career. There was, however, beautiful portrayals of her returning “home” as well as the tension between both sides of the Chilean civil war. I appreciated a fictional exploration of something I knew little about prior.
