I am a true SJM fan with all my heart and soul, but I truly thought I would hate this book/world/series.

I loathe modern themes/technology in my fantasy books but I was throughly surprised when I found myself enjoying this book.

While I don't think it's her best work I can feel it building up to be a truly great series and I can't wait to read more.

In all honesty I don't think the first book of any of her series are "the best in the series" but I still absolutely adore them regardless. So with that knowledge in the back of my mind I can't wait to continue to CC2 because I know it will get even better.

This book was so so good. Maas just has a hold on me. I don’t know what it is about her books that are so good. At times it felt very long but I really did enjoy it.

Really wasn’t sure about this book post ACOTAR hangover but I loved it! Will also admit that the plotting is far more interesting and complex than ACOTAR. I think out of all SJM books this is the strongest opening novel.
However slightly concerned as have heard the quality goes down throughout the series.

the world building was so confusing, it made my brain hurt. BUT probably SJM’s best series start, no hate to ACOTAR and TOG but those first books? tough to get through. but this? impeccable a masterpiece, almost has me scared to read the rest

In the beginning of this book I found it hard to get into it, I felt very bored. However, it started to get so much better, to the point where I couldn’t put it down. This book was incredible and I loved it so much.
