I really enjoyed this book. It was a great story about community and friendship and women being empowered, as well as a love story.

I struggled in the beginning to get into it, but once I did I was hooked. It's descriptions and setting in nature and the behaviours of one character did remind me of Where the Crawdads sing.

Some parts of the book were great but some parts lost my attention. I loved the character development in this book - especially between Alice and Margery. Each character is super diverse which is what helped me see that everyone who worked for the packhorse library grow strong in confidence. The ending seemed a bit rushed to me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction audiobook. I especially appreciated the focus on the power of female friendship.
