I'm sure this author is good, and that the series is enjoyable to those who have read the other books that take place in this universe (I haven't), but it just didn't do anything for me.

DNF. His writing style and vocabulary is honestly too simple. The way the characters talk to eachother feels like something I could of written. It just isn't what i'm looking for as an adult. I would've liked this when I was like 14 probably.

Loved this book! When I was reading it I couldn’t stop, it read so easily. I felt like it was understandable even if at the beginning I might’ve been lost (me thing). I liked the audiobook as well. I used it to supplement when I couldn’t read my actual physical book. The story progressed fast. The pace was great and so was the writing. So happy to enter the world of Michael J. Sullivan!

I seem to be in an enviable position at the moment as I seem to be discovering new authors whose works excite me on a regular basis. I was not familiar with Michael J. Sullivan's works but I'm so glad I discovered this one. A fascinating new world to discover and a host of interesting characters were what first attracted me to this book but there are some intriguing little twists woven in that bode well for future books in the series. Best of all I've discovered there are two previous series set in the same world for me to devour so I can add those to my growing reading list.
