And Sullivan has done it again. I have yet to pick up a book by Michael J. Sullivan where I am not immediately engaged in the writing. He lures you in right away and makes it so you never want to put the book down. In Age of Myth, Sullivan gives us a new look at the world we loved from his other series as well as giving us all new characters get to enjoy. The world and characters have plenty of depth and personality, making them enjoyable throughout the entire story. I have enjoyed reading Sullivan’s stories so far and expect to for the long run. If you haven’t read anything of his yet, I highly recommend it!

Humans have long worshipped the Fhrey, a race a people that are superior in every way. However, when one of them is killed by a human, word quickly spreads that the Fhrey may not be as invincible as they seem. In one of these communities, Persephone has just lost her son and her husband to a bear in their woods. When her path crosses with a young mystic and the god-killer, they must all work together to protect their communities from the Fhrey and from the human-killing bear.

I really, really enjoyed this book. I believe I'm reading Sullivan's books in a different order than most, but I decided to read this one first so I could understand all of the references in the later books. I went into this book knowing next to nothing about what to expect. I thought the strongest part of this book is the characters. The banter was all funny and personal, and they all created such touching relationships. The plot was also incredible. I didn't see any of the plot twists coming. Sullivan did a great job of not giving many hints and then just dropping a huge plot twist. I thought the last 25% of the book was so fast paced and wild and I couldn't stop listening.

All in all, I am very excited to continue with this series and Sullivan's other series. I would recommend this book to fantasy lovers everywhere.

Well, this book was all kinds of fun!

It took me a bit to get into it, but by the eight chapter I was completely immersed into the storyline. I easily liked Raith's story the best, though I eventually grew to like everyone else too. I enjoyed the action sequences towards the end, and the way it built up to the final scene was a nice touch. We all knew at the beginning that Raith was going to kill a god. But the ending where it showed just how he was going to do so was impressive.

This book had fun times, and the bantering between Raith and the slave was comical at times. They were my favorite scenes to read throughout the book.

The only thing that really irritated me was how the book swapped from character to character. I wished it would just have focused on Raith, but ah well...

I still award this book 5/5 stars regardless, because I had fun reading it!

After a slew of lighter reads, this took me a bit of adjustment to get into. But as a fantasy novel goes it is definitely worth a read - good characters, interesting world, and a mysterious magic system (for now). I would recommend it and I will definitely keep reading! And the narration by TGR is phenomenal per usual.
