Another exciting mystery

Another fast paced and elegant mystery. A brilliant yarn, and I don't mean the wool. I really love these books and I enjoyed the end especially as it was worth waiting for.

lighthearted

Not as good as the last few, but I admit that I was definitely distracted by the beginning clues and it didn't end up being the murderer I expected.
SpoilerAnd a happy ending, finally! Honestly, I just wish we had more details of this supposed love between Rafe and Lucy... it makes me happy but it also feels very surface since we don't see much of them as a true dating couple
.

Interesting twists, not entirely predictable. A 'we knew it was coming' ending, but still appreciated.

I was waiting in anticipation to read book 12 of one of my favorite series... and Nancy Warren did not disappoint. The characters are so likeable! I feel like I’m back in high school, giddy to read what will happen next.

A hex is found at the knitting shop and the side effects get brutal. Lucy has to tap into her witchiness. Will she save today? Who cast the hex? Also, we get more pages about William and Violet, two wonderful characters that are complex but personable. But most importantly... Lucy and Rafe.... will she say yes?

A fun read from cover to cover.

Please note... I was given an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

American Lucy Swift inherited Cardinal Woolsey’s, a knitting shop in Oxford, from her grandmother after she died. And then she discovered her grandmother is undead. As in, a vampire. Who lives under the shop with a bunch of other vampires. Who like to knit. In addition, Lucy finds out she’s a witch. This is a lot to deal with, right? Well, hang on to your britches because Lucy also seems to find herself involved with murder. Ok, so that sounds bad. She doesn’t commit the murders. She doesn’t hire someone to commit the murders. She just discovers the body or is linked to the poor dead people in some way and being naturally curious and a concerned (magical) citizen, she tries to unmask the killer(s) usually with help from her undead friends. In this latest adventure, Lucy’s cousin Violet has been hexed and they need to remove it, preferably before Violet dies from it.

I’m not sure why this one fell short for me. I think it’s partly all the waffling that Lucy has done regarding her love for vampire hottie Rafe and his marriage proposal. She loves him, but he’s a vampire and she’s mortal so she’ll age and die and he won’t. Does she really want to live like that? Yes. No. Yes. No. At least, by the end of this book she’s made a decision. Finally.

In addition, I just wasn’t feeling the storyline regarding William (who I love, btw) and the financial advisor thing. Violet gets on my nerves, too. And Lucy’s lackadaisical approach to her magic seriously pisses me off.

Okay, so I guess I figured out why this one fell short for me. Maybe the next book will be better now that Lucy isn’t all constipated about Rafe. If she really starts taking her magic seriously then maybe I’ll get totally back on board with this series. She’s stagnant and it’s really starting to show.

Herringbones and Hexes did not disappoint!!! When I first read the book description, I was so nervous that Lucy and Rafe were going to break up that I almost didn’t read this book. But I decided I needed to read on.

I really liked getting to know more of Violet in this book and laughed out loud when Witch Date was mentioned. So relatable.

Overall, this book is the perfect cozy escape everyone needs right now. The mysteries in each book has been getting better and better. This one has so many layers and twists. I can’t wait for what will happen next!
