i skipped the last 20 pages of this because it made me too angry lmao.

as a literature enthusiast, this is a really interesting book to read. aside from that though, it's incredibly outdated.

i will say though, props to john cleland for writing basically 200 pages of porn and somehow making it somewhat interesting.

Thank goodness! I managed to plough through that horrible ranting writing style - only because I wanted to be able to say "I've read Fanny Hill!".

Now, I don't even know why I ever thought it would have been cool to claim such a thing. The story is pretty much incomprehensible, except for the graphic smut scenes - which are EVERYWHERE. I found it easiest to read while being (slightly) inebriated.

So obviously written by a man usurping a female narrative voice that it becomes comical! Is it narcissistic or was Cleland bisexual/homosexual? I guess we’ll never be certain

До знакомства с этой книгой у меня создалось впечатление о ней как об обязательной для прочтения людям, которые могут отличить тонкую эротику от грубой порнографии. В итоге ознакомился с содержанием, но не эротики, как ожидал, а хотя местами и забавной, но все же порнографии.
