I thought a knew a bit about economics, but this book introduced me to a wider range of economic concepts, going further back in history than I had previously explored. I also learned a number of new names in the field, which means more reading and research. I thought it was well written: concepts were explained very clearly (no math, graphs or equations!) and it moved along quickly.

If you're a novice, do not know much about how a country works or perhaps how & why people are taxed, how the wealth is generated or how uncertainty is forecasted, then this is the book to begin with. Author walks us from the religious era from the unorthodox practices of usury to modern day's basic income battling CO2 releases. Whether novice or not, it's a must read for young adults & Children for sure

It was fine and I very much enjoyed the later chapters. But the earlier ones where he tried to go through all of ancient and medieval economics were...too thin. And overall, the whole thing was way too Eurofocused.
