Synopsis: Her ship is gone, her crew is captured and notorious mercenary Androma Racella is no longer the powerful Bloody Baroness, but a fugitive ruthlessly hunted across the Mirabel Galaxy. The bloodthirsty Queen Nor now rules most of the galaxy through a mind-control toxin and she’ll stop at nothing to destroy her most hated adversary.

Andi will risk anything, even her precious freedom, to find a cure. Stranded with her unlikely ally, Dex, on the unforgiving ice planet of Solera, their plan to infiltrate a black-market city proves dangerously irresistible.

Back in Arcardius, Nor’s actions have opened Mirabel to invasion. As Andi’s crew fights to regain their freedom, Andi and Dex discover a threat far greater than anything they’ve faced before.

Only by saving their mortal enemy can the crew of the Marauder make one last desperate strike to save the galaxy—unaware that a shattering, centuries-old secret may demand the most wrenching sacrifice of all.

Review: I had to DNF this book at 60%. Upon opening the book I had instant PTSD from the first book. The first book was awful and this one didn't improve much more from it. The characters were flat and uninteresting. They're also obvious copies of other famous YA characters to the point that I wonder how much of their "development" was just straight up pulled from other works. The book doesn't do anything to set the appropriate mood for the theme of it. The science in this book is so superbly flawed and inaccurate that I wonder if the authors ever did any research to begin with. The world building was atrocious and underdeveloped. The romance... ugh, so tropey. I also thought the storyline didn't have any uniqueness to it. I felt like I read a better version of this book somewhere else and that I was beta reading this one. Basically, this book was so awful but I'm glad that the two authors didn't try to lie about it's spot on the NYT bestseller list, post fake reviews, or use their positions to get fake reviews. That, at least, is some improvement.

Verdict: One of the very few books I don't recommend.

So, this is the 2nd book in the series by Sasha & Lindsay. I read the first book & liked it so I picked this one up when it came out.
This book picks up where Zenith leaves off. They are at a ball & Val stabs The General. At the time Queen Nor attack’s the ball & everyone falls due to being shot by silver bullets which turn out not to be fatal. They contain the Zenith virus that infects everyone & let’s Val control them with his compulsion powers.
Next Androma is stabbed also. Dex gets her, The General, Hvac & Lira’s brother onto the ship. There The General transfer the title of General over to Andy before he dies.
Now in Nexus we are on the ship while Andy is still asleep. Dex & Lon are just waiting in a Nebula for Andy to wake up. She awakes & tries to fight Dex cause she wants to know where her crew is & he tells her.
Some things happens & they are on another planet. Get attacked by an ice dragon. In which Lon sacrifices himself so that Andy & Dex can escape. They find themselves in an underground city full of people that aren’t affected by the virus. There is Arachnid, the person who threatened Nor & plans to go up against her. Arachnid reveals himself to be Queen Clarin who everyone thought was dead & was to be believed to have been killed by The General. She is ashamed of how her kids turned out & that she fell in love with the galaxy that she was sent there to destroy so many years ago.
Andy learns that her crew is under the spell of Queen Nor. She wants a ship to go & free them but Dex says they will still be under her control until Val willing releases them. Everyone doesn’t want her to go. So, she decides to stay a day or almost & figures out things. She spends some time with Dex & they discuss where they stand in things. They then try to steal a ship but get caught in the process. They are joined by a few others & Arachnid knew she wouldn’t stay. She wants to reason with her children to stop this madness.
Andy also before this sees a video in which Lira is killed but in reality she wasn’t. Andy is on her way to get the girls. Erin makes Dex & a few others invisible to where you can only see Andy as a prisoner & Arachnid. But Dex messes that all up. The uncle turns out to be the villain & has been controlling everyone. The plan goes sideways but the girls are freed & Andy is not.
Andy gets free & kills Val who has been under the control of the uncle. He released everyone’s mind before he dies. Queen Nor couldn’t stop the uncle after she heard the truth because he began to control her every move & voice.
In the end Andy gave up the general job & had Dex & the girls in the ship. They became bounty hunters. Clarin & Nor were banished with tracking devices to another planet but could never go back to their home.
I believe this second book was written better then the first one. I give it 5 stars. The plot was was better and I couldn’t put it down. The cover was beautiful, they did an awesome job.

FR

I expected a lot from this volume, because I really liked the first one.
Unfortunately, it only worked moderately for me. While we were in action, that things moved, that we discovered a lot of things; I had the feeling that everything was going too slowly. And in the last pages, too quickly.
I got a little bothered in certain passages, and I had the impression that it dragged on for a long time, whereas I am well aware that no, it was just an impression.
I'm still happy to finish this duology; it was a nice read. And if you like science fiction, I recommend it, because it was easy to read.

A fun read and a great sequel to Zenith, it really didn’t disappoint and it felt like you’d never left, the writing and story is so good you just jump back in the world immediately. Fast paced plot again and a book you don’t want to put down .

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
