I didn’t realise how long I was reading this for. Definitley not because I couldn’t get into the book, but simply being a parent and finding the time.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. The level of ‘smut’ was perfect and I loved the dominant billionaire CEO aspect of it. I found myself laughing out loud at certain parts, especially when they go camping and could envision it happening in front of me.

The only reason not given this 5* is because there were certain details missed such as when the case suddenly got solved and was due to a woman we heard of the chapter before. But then their breakup went on for ages. Other than that I thought the book was perfect and an intrigued as to what the other books in the series are like, but I don’t think they are something I’ll rush to pick up.

I do understand that this isn’t for everyone especially as their relationship is so sex heavy and up and down and focuses a lot on them being from ‘different worlds’, but that is something I enjoyed as a lot of couples relate to arguing about things that don’t matter in the long run like his masseuse!

first part was really working for me. like i loved it but then. he called her bitch??? i hate that & i feel like i missed parts bc time jumps were annoying/ confusing like timeline was waaaay to fast. wym youve been in nyc for barely a month and you love each other??? wym you went on one date and move in together?? proposal after like 3 dates??? hes kinda an ick/ red flag irl but whatever (like his attitude and he moves waaaay to fast). a bit petty but they live in new york and they go by bus a lot??? wouldnt the underground be more logical?? also his name is JAMESON??? iew what kinda name is that?? also FUCK BUNNY IS NOT A CUTE NICKNAME OMG yikes btw on the ending so that gabriel ferrera guy was just a normal asshole?? and wasnt behind any of it?? why did he lie?? why did the main guy say i know you are trying this?? when he didnt?? was it like a red herring but a very bad one?? why did he then get hit?? huh??? am i dumb or was this just not thought out?? i think the latter!!
worst part is it was entertaining hahaha so 3.25 ⭐️

The Stopover begins at an airport where Emily finds herself upgraded to first class after an argument with another passenger. Emily is seated next to Jim (Jameson) and at first they do nothing but disagree. After some drinking and a long flight, they end up talking and finding some common ground and enjoy each other's company so when they can’t land in NY, they spend their time together in bed. She is very disappointed that he leaves and never asks for her number. This is where I was left disappointed because for a book titled The Stopover, I was expecting a lot more storyline to take place here.

Now a year later, Emily has moved to NY for a new job, which happens to be Jameson’s company. Emily is not interested in reconnecting with Jameson, she is hurt and angry with him. Jameson is trying his best to insert him into Emily’s life. I really did enjoy the story and the secondary story going on. Emily and Jameson had some very steamy scenes and when they got together at first they were very good together. I was mostly annoyed when Emily caught Jameson in an awkward position with his ex-fiance but her trust in him led to her being understanding but then when Jameson sees some photos of Emily that don’t look too good, he doesn’t even trust her or give her a chance to explain. This would have been a 5 star read for me until the end where Jameson ruined it and I almost didn’t want them to end up together.

The idea was interesting. I wanted to like this book but I LOATHE false conflict. 75% of the book the two leads were angry and mad at each other for no genuine reason. They got mad at each just to be mad. ALL of their issues would have been solved if they just communicated with each other. If the characters were high schoolers, I would understand. But believe I will not a couple in their late 20s/early 30s can't talk to each other to resolve their issues. I checked the publish date for this book several times because most of the book acts like texting barely exists. So much of the characters' frustration is due to phone calls not being answered. Who calls people anymore?

The third act breakup is what really pissed me off. Emily goes to meet a source for info on the traitor and lies to her boyfriend about where she's going and who with. Why? How hard is it to text him, 'meeting with Jake at bar. He says he has a lead. I'll see you afterwards.' If one text message can unravel the climax of the plot, then that's lazy writing. I will not be reading another book by this author.

Spoilers Ahead

I really liked the idea of this book, however there was way too much fighting, and horrible things said between the couple. An altercation is to be expected, but when they were cussing and saying such horrible things, I was immediately turned off.

3 ⭐️ I’m all for fun toxicity, but this was the epitome of miscommunication to me and that is my least favorite trope.
It had me in the first half of the book!!
But I hate when a third act breakup is based off of miscommunication and immaturity.

Excited to read the second one about Tristan though, because I’ve been told it’s the best one

I ever want to see the word "sexily" ever again. I need a break from Contemporary romance after this one.
