A new author who writes novels in verse! Alice is still in deep pain from her mother's death from cancer. Her father's remarried and a new baby has just been born. Alice relies on her boyfriend Blaze and her friend Claire, who help her fan the flames of her hatred and frustration. Her home is a cold, armed camp with misuderstandings and silences.

Her music sustains Alice, but even that has been too dark for too long.

A family trip changes everything. Alice, along with Vic her stepmother, and Ivy her infant sister, get trapped by a freak snowstorm.Isolated and frightened, they finally form an alliance, doing everything they can to save baby Ivy.

When Vic finally decides she must leave the two girls and go get help, things become even more dire.

The poetry is infinitely readable, the emotions are right there on the surface.

Alice will always miss her beloved mother who seems so far away. She rejects all attempts by her father and new stepmother to reach out...they are far away. Ivy? Just another symbol of the family Alice feels she's lost.

But what if her loved ones aren't that far away? What if they're watching over her, helping her grow and learn to accept life?

It surpassed them!!

INTERVIEWER: what were your thoughts on the characters?
————————————————
Alice- You feel for her. She is going through a lot and figuring out who she is. She is such a great character and you can completely relate to her❤️
Victoria-didn’t like her at the beginning but as it went on I warmed up to her. She is a bit annoying still to me

This is yet another great book by Lisa Schroeder- sticking to the samae form (prose) as her other two books, Far From You again deals with a young girl coping with death and finding her way in the world after a loss. In this book our main charecter is Alice, who has lost her mother to cancer, and who is now dealing with her father's remarraige and newborn daughter. A crisis throws Alice together with her "evil-stepmother" and they must learn to communicate and trust eachother in order to survive.

Like Schroeder's other books, I loved Far From You, it deals with death with grace and shows you how to learn to move forward and love the people who become your new family, while never forgetting the ones who have gone.

Very nice book written in verse. It doesn't beat Ellen Hopkins but it was still a nice read.

This book was a quick-read. I read it in an hour BUT it wasn't because it was so good that I had to read, but it was more because it was short and easy to flip the page. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice book and the author writes nicely but I had some really high expectations. I liked it mainly because when I read it, it kind of sounded like music when read out loud. ANYHOW, the main character I didn't really mind. I felt like her character was easy to understand with especially because her passion for music is the same as my passion for music. For me there were some aspects of the novel where it felt cheesy and extremely sappy (which I personally dislike) but I got over it. It was a nice, simple book to read.

Far from You, is just a magnificent book! Despite being very short and being a verse novel which I'm not very familiar with. I felt like this book had a lot more depth to it, than most books its size. I felt Alice's pain and her love towards her famiy and friends. The developement of the characters was great. This was a wonderful read, so enchanting. Will be making sure to check out more of Lisa Schroeder's books!!!

I love books in verse. Very good and interesting but you read them so fast. Good example of how people realize what really is important to them in times of crisis.
