It was heartbreaking to discover that one of my favorite gay fiction writers has narcissistic tendencies and thinks way to highly of himself, in essence claiming to be the discoverer of most of 1980/90s gay culture and even going so far as to claim that Gore Vidal wrote “Palimpsest” after reading and rejecting Picano’s own memoir (spoiler alert: these memoirs are so drastically different such a claim is blatantly absurd)
