There's not much I can say about the plot of this without spoiling the events of the first one and I want everyone to pick this up so I'll just say that it continues to be one of my favorite graphic novel series of all time.
I love the anxiety rep for Bea and how she continues to struggle with her feelings and her fear but always keeps doing the thing and finding the friends to support her. It's the kind of message that I wish I'd had as a kid and I love seeing it.
I also appreciated that this volume feels a little more bittersweet and expands on the lore and the world in a way that left me really intrigued. There's still a grump-sunshine friendship dynamic with Bea and her friend Cad that both leads them in and out of trouble and it's one of my favorite aspects of the series.
If you enjoyed the first volume, definitely pick up this one and if you haven't tried Lightfall and you enjoy fantasy middle grade graphic novels, I highly recommend it! It's got fantastic anxiety rep, adventure, gorgeous art and great friendships!

The art in these books is just so astoundingly beautiful at times that you just want to pause and take it all in.
I also like the direction the story is headed. It's hinting at something that I think could be really intriguing, so I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes with that. I continue to love Cad and Bea and their relationship, as well as how Bea's anxiety is portrayed in the book. The secondary characters are winning too, and the world continues to be imaginative and unlike anything I've seen before.
