very important, powerful read

Taken at face value the 4 Agreements make a lot of sense and it is a great reminder for how people want to live. However, this book expands what should be 4 paragraphs to the level of losing the point.

Example: Agreement 2 Don't take anything personally. Even your own thoughts and opinions. This seems like a great way to avoid any accountability as well as guilt for behavior we may not be proud of.

The author's writing style is also repetative and full of fluff. This already short book is probably 3xs longer than it needs to be.

There are some useful nuggets, hence the 2nd star but this is one where you'll have a better experience reading the cliff notes.

Got me thinking but the ideals are a bit basic

Good info, but it could have been a 20-page book. A lot of repeating and has a better-than-thou type of vibe.

A small book to open when you are in need of some self-reflection. The four agreements book is one of the best in the field of self-development and mental health. I gravitate towards it roughly ones a year just as a reminder to always do my best, to be impeccable with my words, to don't make assumptions and don't take anything personally. A reminder of how every word and action is dictated by old fear and pain for most of us and how easy is to step out of it all and live your dreams.
