A little confusing since it takes so long for the volumes to come out, but it was an ok volume.

Considering how disappointed I was in the previous volume, I found volume 12 of Loveless a surprisingly engaging read. It's hard to say I liked it, since most of the Loveless cast at this point are heavily flawed individuals I would never hang out with (cough Seimei cough), some of them I would fear for my own safety around, but I was entertained by this dark and beautifully drawn set of chapters. The focus of it starts out narrow but by book's end has widened and raised many crucial questions about the story so far.

My complete review of Yun Kouga's LOVELESS v12 is up at my blog.

Several things are still the same as in the last volume. Seimei is still horrible, and I still don’t understand what his plan is. Nisei is also horrible, although I guess I just care about him less. We did get some of their backstory in this volume, though. So we got to see how twisted their relationship has always been.

I still love Soubi, even if he is still confusing and frustrating me. I want him to do something already.

The bro-ship between Ritsuka, Youji and Natsuo is great. I don’t know why I like their friendship so much, but I really do. They spend a lot of time together in this volume, too, going to Ritsuka’s house to look for clues. Their meeting with his mother is interesting, and deserving. They bring back the topic of Ritsuka’s forgotten past, which I am now curious about again. It’s been several volumes since I’ve even thought about it, but it’s still a looming mystery for Ritsuka.

They also spend some time thinking about Soubi and the mess with Seimei, before Natsuo disappears to introduce a new character. And some possible problems between Natsuo and Youji is hinted at, which I’m not looking forward to.

I love this series, and now that I’m fully caught up again, I’m made aware of how long it might be before the next volume is released. This series has a long time between release dates, and we’re all caught up with Japan. I still love it, and will be waiting not-so-patiently for the next volume.

Loveless has remained a consistently heartbreakingly beautiful tale. I don't want to see it end but I also look forward to seeing how this beautifully crafted tapestry looks as a finished piece.

"Loveless" continues being itself - odd, occasionally difficult to figure out (I'm not entirely sure how things went from 'battling Nisei' to 'visiting Ritsuka' or what the chronology of it was), but interesting and unusual.

It has its usual battle and dark revelations. I could write essays about the relationships between the characters, their pasts, and what it all means, but right now I'm wondering if I could do that because it's a very good story that's meant to be ambiguous, or whether Yun Kouga is winging it and writing odd stuff because she can.

Either way, I'm enjoying it.

This volume moves a little more slowly but I loved seeing the background of Nisei and Semei. Ritsuka’s three wishes were just very cute.

I have been waiting ages to read this...I get it and put it off for ages. That's the problem with waiting for a new volume to come out, I forget what happens before. Seimei seems like such a...well, a dick. I don't completely understand the fascination/dedication to him. Still one of my favorite series so I can't wait for the next volume.

A very well written and drawn part in the series. I continue to enjoy the complicated multithreaded plots and the complex, delightful (or horrific, sometimes both as with Natsuo and Youji) characters.
