I almost never give 5 stars to books nowadays, and i am rarely inclined to read the next books, usually content with learning how the series end online and what ships eventually sail, etc.
I also NEVER read travel books. Ever. I would literally remove books about travel from my TBR.
But this???? Incredible.
This book was like getting a hug at random parts during the day not because it was sweet nor endearing, but because it gave me a sense of stability, the book was slow but never boring, and the characters all so grey but ultimately human.
I cannot wait to go on with this series.
The twist at the end had me surprised and the first person POV was done so well.
The Lore, the Gods, i was obsessed with their stories i literally told them to my brother and friends. The WAY the lore was woven into story is woven is absolutely amazing, not info-dumpy and the politics of the three involved kingdoms was incredible.
And the best part is that i heard this would only be the beginning.

I wanted to like this more, and there were many elements I did like very much (Sophos), I just didn’t feel like it came together at the end. I was supposed to feel surprised, I think, but for me it fell a bit flat.

Not sure what to think about this book. Kind of meh for 3/4 but I do like the end and what it sets up

The Thief is an incredibly charming book, reminiscent of traditional classic fantasy. While the overly long travel sequence didn't bore me, and I enjoyed how it all came together at the end, The Thief didn't really surprise or wow me, but it was an enjoyable read, and I will continue the series.

The first half of this book was incredibly boring!! Just a whole bunch of walking and eating. I’m happy I powered through though because I quite enjoyed the last half! I do plan on continuing on with the series!
