I’d give this higher number of stars but the main character annoyed me 😅 I keep reminding myself that she’s 18 so I’m tempering my annoyance. Overall, good book, decent writing, fun story line.

This was a buddy read and it was so much fun! I understand why others find this book to be slow and I admit that not loadsss happened but I really enjoyed it nonetheless 😭 This book was so easy to read which did surprise me as I was not expecting to get through it so fast!
One of my favourite things about this book was the writing which I loved a lot! The descriptions were beautiful and I really loved learning about the world. I found the Persian mythology so interesting especially surrounding the devil and the Jinn. It was all new to me as I hadn’t read the back of the book for once! Also I would say definitely don’t go in expecting romance as that is probably why a lot didn’t enjoy it as much as they could’ve.
Tahereh is always great at writing characters! Alizeh is so very intelligent. She is so much stronger than she appears to be and I’m excited to see her character grow. Hazan is so funny and I love his dynamic with Kamran. As soon as he appeared and started talking I knew that I would love him and a certain something had me shocked. As for Kamran I do have mixed opinions. I like him as a person but not with Alizeh. It was very insta love but I think it was definitely supposed to be that way.
Those last few chapters were the most INSANE 🫨 The ending genuinely had me speechless. I need book 2 right now because it’s all been set up SO well! I’m excited to see what will happen next and to get to know the characters more, Cyrus especially! Can’t wait to read it next month, I have high hopes 🤭

Tahereh does a great job of creating yearning and angst between her main characters. Plus talk about a plot twist!
I’m going to wait to read the other books because I didn’t realize the series was incomplete until I started reading book 1. I’ll continue closer to the release date of book 4.
