I expected to love it, but this turned out to be a verbose snoozefest. I heavily considered DNFing at 46% but since I had already bought the book (and the sequel, and the sequel's sequel 😭) I decided to stick it out.
About 90% in, I actually felt invested. I do not feel that two intriguing final chapters compensate for 38 boring preceding chapters but damnit, that ending did make me curious to see what happens next. 🙃

this book felt slowwwww. there was lots of world building to be done, but I still felt it was a bit unnecessarily long. it obviously kept me entertained enough to finish it, but I felt it really didn’t pick up until the end. excited to see how the relationships develop in the next book and hope that’s more of the focus.

Booktok failed me with this one.. What was this..? The only things I liked about this book were the chemistry between Alizeh and Kamran in her room and Hazan. The writing was gorgeous, though!!

3.75 stars ⭐️ this read literally like olden times bc i hateeeee that they speak like that plsss. but that is a personal opinion so don’t shame me for it
The story itself was nice, but a little too slow for my taste. Looking forward to the sequel :)

love alizeh as the protagonist—can‘t wait to see her development in the next books! typical short chapters which makes it additionally fast-paced. a little something was still missing, kamran‘s thoughts were a bit tiresome at times. pls thalia send me the next books asap!!!
