I loved this conclusion.

In every way Lirael built me up and led me to this point Abhorsen took us there and blew my mind. I sped through this in a day. I couldn't not finish it when more and more things were being revealed.

The story of the Destroyer, and how it would be defeated was something I needed to know. I knew that if Nix had Lirael and the others destroy the Destroyer I would have thrown the book. It wasn't something they had the power to do and I'm very impressed with his solution.

The Disreputable Dog was brilliant. I didn't enjoy that Mogget was bound by Ranna but I figured this allowed the Dog to shine. It really reinforced that Sameth was second to Lirael.

I want to slap Nix and kiss him for the way he writes in character deaths.

I am going to read the Keys to the Kingdom series next. I can't wait.

3.75 stars. I love how the main characters in this book just get down to business and get things done, and I felt a flush of pride anytime another character or the author quietly acknowledged just how well they were doing despite massive adversity.
That being said, I found myself trying not to skim through a bulk of the final third of this book as the constant mentioning of lightning, hemispheres, and the blue-clothed dead was beginning to wear on me. Of course, these elements are the driving forces of the whole book, but I struggled to stay engaged for some parts of it. The ending was triumphant, however, and one day I may continue on with the other unowned books that further explore these characters and world.
