Another wonderful Chu story, with that perfectly-matched art. Gaiman captures the tension of the first day of school, and tops it with the tension of waiting for Chu to sneeze. Buy it for parents of children, or buy acopy to have around in case children visit.

If Chu can survive sneezing his classroom into chaos on the first day, your kid can survive anything the first day of school throws at him.

My godkids have both already started school (1st and Pre-Pre-K), so the message wasn't quite needed. But the story itself is so much fun, and the illustrations are gorgeous. My kids loved pointing out the animals and naming them all. We'd already done [b:Chu's Day|15727792|Chu's Day|Neil Gaiman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1350289203s/15727792.jpg|21405742], so Allison kept going, "Ah....ah...."

The sneeze got great laughs and "Achoo"ing from both of them.

I think I'm going to be buying both Chu books for them. And the best friend is very disappointed that there aren't more, she was hoping it was a big series.

More soon, I hope.

Totally adorable. Some of my favorite Adam Rex artwork too.

I bought a bunch of books about going to school when we were about to put my little Moongazer into preschool. Imagine my surprise when during my research on "best books for toddlers about to school" I come across a book written by Neil Gaiman. After my initial read, it certainly was not my favourite but my little bug loves this story. It's growing on me too. Double surprise - it's the second book in a series about Chu! I will definitely be getting the first book :)

No illustrations in audiobook (obviously), but the way Gaiman sneezed is priceless 😂

Just like with the first Chu book, the story didn't wow me but Adam Rex's endearing illustrations did.

The first book was stellar and this one has a lot of hilarity too (that snail got me really good). However, this book relied heavily on readers having been familiar with the previous book and thus the funny at the end isn't as strong. Still a good read.

For: panda fans; readers wanting a book about the power of the sneeze or going to school for the first time.

Possible red flags: property damage.
