Fell a little flat for people who don’t like each other at the start, banter isn’t there, lack of personality and development in the story, just an abrupt ending but does the job for a simple romance

It was good. I enjoyed the 80% of the book but the remaining portion not so much because what was done with Nick character anyways it was still enjoyable.

“You know I’m going to kick your ass, right?” he said, picking up the second controller.
In response, she leaned over and kissed his cheek.
Nick gave her a startled look, and then was even more surprised to see Taylor Carr blushing—not an everyday occurrence.’

“I knew you were trouble from the very first second, Ms. Carr,” he said, reverently running a finger over her mouth.

“Worth it, though. Right?”

He smiled tenderly. “You are the best thing that ever happened to me. So hell yeah. It was all worth it.”

I knew that was gonna love taylornick right when I read about their argument in daisylincoln’s book and I did love them in here. I just think Taylor Carr deserves every good thing in life and I love her so much.

However, I really felt that Lauren Layne just didn’t know how to break the couple up in this one. If you’ve read her books, her couples face a roadblock around 85% of their books every single time. I just thought that the argument that Nick and Taylor had was slightly ridiculous and could have been solved in one conversation. Lauren Layne made up for it by having the next 2 chapters after the conflict being really short ones so I guess I didn’t mind it as much.

I still think authors should just give us HEA without having to force some weird conflict between the couple because I wouldn’t mind reading about Taylor and Nick being happy without that unnecessary drama in the middle.

Also, I was already expecting the lack of the Stiletto/Oxford gang in here seeing as to how daisylincoln’s book ended that way. But no matter, I’ll take emmacassidy crumbs anyday...

nick and taylor were peak enemies to roommates to lovers. literally loved every second of this (except the last couple chapters) (nick yk what you did) (lauren layne you know what you did too). taylor is my role model and this book did exactly what the other books did wrong (sometimes, kind of), this time around our heroine had a VIABLE SECOND LOVE INTEREST, and not in a love triangle type of way. but in a proper, oh she is also living her life not just pining over this guy as she dates some other "nice guy" with a "charming smile" that is "perfectly nice" but doesn't "give her butterflies" (pls can we stop with this and let a woman like two guys subparly until one wins)(im not sure if this is exactly what a love traingle is, but im going to say its not). anyway, team taylor till i die, she should've been part of the Stiletto crew.

Kinda boring and lacklustre. No chemistry between the characters and things went from zero to fifty so quickly.
