It was readable. The characters were all so unlikeable and there was nothing else to keep the reader entertained. It was a slog to get through and most of the “twists” were easily guessable as they happened. I’ve read another Tyce novel and loved it and was really looking forward to this book because of that, however I was thoroughly disappointed. Also, would’ve appreciated a TW for very graphic depictions of rape - it’s like the focus for the whole second part of the book. If I could prevent anyone else from having to read that I would. (I promise that is not a spoiler)

I had to give up halfway on this book. Literally none of the characters are redeeming. You main character is a doormat. I was filled in on what happens with the lawsuit aspect and it did not surprise me whatsoever. The ‘twists’ were unsurprising when told to me because with how everything was going it’s like ‘of course this happened.’ Just no.

Alison seems to have the perfect little family and a career on the rise as a defense attorney. Unfortunately she also has a drinking problem, is sleeping with a shitty coworker, and is being anonymously harassed by someone who seems determined to expose her secrets and ruin her life. This book consisted almost entirely of tropes I'm super over and also just didn't have a lot going for it in terms of storytelling. Also it was so dark as to be actively upsetting. Clearly many others have seen something in this one but I really don't get all the praise.

This book just wasn't for me, the pacing was too slow and everything was just unlikeable.
To begin, I wouldn't have put this in the Thriller genre as it wasn't until around 250 pages where things got interesting -
When Matilda went "missing" and everything started to unspiral
. Even by that point we just went through the motions, maybe one or two things at the end were quite shocking but by this time we've had nearly 300 pages to get through, nothing was 'edge of your seat gripping' or had me excited to know the ending.
None of the characters were likable, I believe intentional, but it didn't make me want to read more I wasn't supporting anyone or wanting to see their ending. No lessons were learned for the characters and you couldn't really take anything from this book as a reader either.

Sad. Nothing really feels good about it

The writing was sloppy and pretty badly done, yet the plot and realness of the characters made it so enjoyable I couldn't book the down. Finished within 24 hours. Amazing twist (an incredibly twisted one at that) at the end!
