For her first adult novel, I liked that Meyer took on a completely new and unexpected storyline from her previous works.
I liked the character and general plot, but I was not a fan of the love story - I'm not a fan of reading instant romances and their relationship did feel like the after effects of Stockholm syndrome for the majority of the book.
Overall, a nicely paced action thriller and I think Meyer did well in this book.

I think the author was trying to write an adult thriller but it still read very much as YA, from the over explaining of every little detail, to the relationship forming between Alex and Daniel. I'm not against YA but this just felt confused, like it didn't know what it wanted to be. It was also boring and I just don't have it in me to finish.

I was hoping that Meyer's departure from angsty YA vampire romance to adult spy thriller would be a good read. It was pretty awful, actually. The dialogue is terrible. The two main characters are supposedly furious with each other, and yet I had no clue that it wasn't a normal conversation until the dialogue tag said that they were in each other's faces and nearly spitting at each other. The story drops the reader right into the action, which is usually a good thing. In this case, it feels more like you've flipped open the book to the middle and started reading. I had no clue why the main character was on the run, and moreover, I never really did figure out why. There are so many loose threads that never get wrapped up. The ending is completely ridiculous. I think Twilight might actually be better than this drivel.

Better than I expected. No vampires which was good. A little too easy on the plot twists. But a fun read.

I started this book thinking I had not finished it the last time I tried, via hardcover. Got all the way to the end and discovered: yep, I had read it all the way through. Okay! So, there's that.
Decent read. Might read again. Might forget that I read it, IDK.

I’ll be honest, I picked it up because of the title, but I kept reading because I found it interesting enough. The “big reveals” didn’t feel like surprises but the characters were engaging and the plot line kept moving. I recommend it if you like thrillers without content warnings - no language, only slightly implied sex.

I fell in love with Stephanie when Twilight first came out (and I was young and didn't know any better). Then The Host. And now this!! She's truly grown as an author. I could not put this book down. I laughed, I cried and everything in between. What a great plot line. Great characters - I definitely became attached. I'll be keeping my eyes open for any other books she comes out with in the near future!
