OK. Harper and Tolliver are back near home, seeing their relatives. They finally find Cameron, with an odd explanation for who/why she was killed.
This book, which I assume is the last of this series, was a bit of a disappointment. The plot itself was very slow going, and you spent a lot of time reading about Harper visiting Tolliver in the hospital. Not that much time was spent on the mystery itself. Much more time was spent on the discussion of different relationships, which got a bit boring after a while.
I had a small problem with the resolution to Cameron’s disappearance; I thought it unrealistic. I was impressed however with how the author intertwined Cameron’s disappearance with their current case.

This is the fourth book in the Harper Connelly series. It was a quick, pleasant read but not all together satisfying. There is a sameness to this series and the mystery in this one was not particularly believable, and the way the pieces came together wasn’t fulfilling, having said that it could be the book that is a turning point for the series as all of the storylines that have threaded through the books have been sewn up.
The final page of the book almost read like a last book, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the final book, as all of the main characters got their happy ending, but the every last line leaves it open for more stories for Harper. I won’t be disappointed if this is the last book in the series but as these are a small enough time investment I’d keep reading if there were more to come.

SPOILER. Don't read this review if you don't want a spoiler.
Tolliver is incapacitated for much of this book, which means that Harper is FORCED into something resembling independence. Fantastic for character development for a character that I've loved to hate (you're not supposed to with this one). Other plusses: Manfred is fleshed out a little bit, and frankly I'd like to read a series starring him and his talents. I look forward to another book that features him. The mystery regarding her sister is both addressed and solved! In many ways, Harper finally grows up and gets some cajones. Good for her.

This book was all over the place. It definitely tied up all the loose ends, but it did it all in the last 10 pages. Harper hardly used her body finding skills at all, which to me is the fun part of these books. I had to spread out reading this series since they are all fairly similar, and I'm not sad that this is the end of the series. But it was a fun bunch of light-ish books to read overall.
I don't know if I'm just not as interested in this series anymore or what but I didn't enjoy this book as well as the others. I think Harper's relationship with her "brother"/boyfriend is creeping me out. Yes I understand they're not blood related. I think I would be ok if she didn't continue to still call him her brother. Other than that, as usual, Charlaine Harris is a great mystery writer and it was interesting. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one though if she writes it.
For once with Harris mysteries, I didn't guess the "ultimate" killer half way through. A good read for when you're bored, but hardly anything mind boggling.
