So rushed, too many characters, it seemed to be a lot of explaining. Even for a thriller just didnβt seem believable. The characters were so unloveable and it was a bit confusing how they were involved in the mess. On top of that there was another story built in to the book which was super confusing

I like locked-room mysteries and The Engagement Party is no exception. I loved the setting but I disliked the characters. The mystery part was a bit predictable but I still enjoyed the reading experience.

Started strong, but quickly became a bit too convoluted. Hard to follow all the names and what had happened. Liked the ending, though.

you made me look over my shoulder!
you really did, kane.
never have i ever done that with a book!
especially thatshed scene, bro. wtf. the head rolling and the thunder and the dark and the spoken horror was all it took.
i got goosebumps everytime something odd/haunting/unnatural happened. again, something that has never happened with any book i read before.
really got the chills in this one. BIG applause for that ππππππππππ
if there's something that sadly made me realise i wouldn't be giving this a 5β is thateveryone really followed cassie's ridiculous spiels. you're caught in a storm without electricity and the woman who was so clearly being defensive and bossy is the one you choose to listen to? the woman who tried to kill you? those parts are really dumb.
last but not least, the female characters in this one(minus cassie) were bold, empathetic, sassy, generally intelligent, and don't act like they're in a fricking horror movie. i love the last part the most.

If youβre looking for a great βwho done it?β book, this is the right one for you. This is a very intriguing mystery/murder suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat! I recommend it to any murder/mystery fans out there! This book is told in multiple viewpoints with short chapters, which I enjoyed. The book has well developed characters with a thrilling plot. I am going to look for other books by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to share my unbiased review on the book!
