I have no doubt that this book is one of the most detailed accounts of the history of The Third Reich. That being said, Shirer is a massive homophobe and I can’t recommend a book spewing this much hate. Ironic, considering the subject matter.

Some terms show the age of the text but the overall information stayed true.

One star for some of the research, which was useful.

Otherwise this tome drones on and on in a highly unprofessional, at times quite juvenile manner. Once a person has been described as "cowardly" or "fat", Shirer continues using the same label for them across countless pages in a smarmy and unhelpful fashion. He describes Luftwaffe attacks as "murderous" while pretending Allied bombings were not equally devastating.

Establishment soy liberals will like this book because they are the intended audience. Serious readers should consider examining works like Hitler's Beneficiaries and Hitler's Empire.
