In the flurry of Armistice celebrations at the end of the Great War, soldier and war nurse, Jasper and Esme, rush into a hasty marriage only to find themselves regretting the decision the next day. Years later, they come back into contact as jewel thieves seeking the same prize—the winged Valkyrie tiara. Each much compete to steal it before the other without past feelings getting in their way.

This was a spectacular ride! Full of atmosphere, snappy dialogue, and adventure, as well as a slow-burn, closed-door romance. At times, the writing is a bit predictable and the characters too flat, but the wit and banter are excellent and well worth your time. I preferred the audiobook performance to the physical copy—Ann Marie Gideon puts on a mean Transatlantic accent.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!!

Honestly!!! I ate this up!! This was a good palette cleanser because it still gave me the elements I love, the historical fiction, the romance and the suspense of it being a cat and mouse game! The 2 thieves have great chemistry that shines through the pages and she was chefs kiss!

This was so fun! Heists, intrigue, romance, and the roaring '20s. Yes, please!

Enjoyable and entertaining! Anyone who likes thieves and historical romance will enjoy this book that has some Oceans 11 vibes set in the 1920s.

I recieved a copy of this audio book through NetGalley.

This was a Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets Oceans 11 set in post WW1 Europe. While the setting and time period was fun, the real star of this book were the MCs. I felt a deep understanding and kinship in Esme, and Jasper was a joy to get to know. The two of them together were magnificent. And Ann Marie Gideon did a beautiful job representing both characters.

Great book! Very fast paced which kept me not wanting to put it down.
