I enjoyed the movie, but the book is just about killing animals in various implausible ways.

With just a little knowledge of history this is a humorous read.  Baron Munchausen is a traveler who tells the most outrageous lies about his travels.  Things like ducking down and having a lion jump over him into the mouth of a crocodile.  Or traveling to Cape Town in a machine that can also dig a canal at Suez.  If you have an afternoon and need to smile this is a great read.

The fact that this book was written by umpteen different (mostly anonymous) writers makes this a very uneven book.

However, the first ‘book’ of the book was mostly very entertaining, Munchausen makes a great super-hero, playing in the very reaches of probability and I can see why other writers wanted to play with that toolkit.

I had as much fun with this book as I was probably intended to.

As a kid I remember watching this movie and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a book. Of course I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I really enjoyed the Barons' Fantastical adventures and would Love to see this book updated to a simpler English, yes I know the first English publishing was originally in 1785 :) If you too enjoyed the movie you will not be disappointed.
