Somehow the story did not touch my life at all, it felt bland and the characters lacked in any distinctive personalities (apart from sir Elliot and Elizabeth who were just mean people)

Of all of Austen’s novels, this was my last to read. I found it to be much more grown-up, smart, a mature couple who is delightful to read and route for. I still love P&P and S&S, but I believe now that Persuasion may be a little better in the storyline, with more dynamic characters. Much more 3 dimensional.

This was my first adventure into Austen, and I can solidly say it is not for me. I found the writing to be difficult to understand at times and the plot uninteresting. The structure of the family reminded me of Downton Abbey, which I do like, but something about this story could not keep me interested. I found the ending to be very anti-climatic. I read this as part of a challenge which involved watching the movie. From what I was awake for it followed the book perfectly, which I could also judge by its equal skill to put me to sleep. Sorry to Austen fans, but this is just not my cuppa.
