Book 4 is a powerhouse of emotions! Kaylin has learned a lot of lessons about racism and community, and now she is has to teach them to the Imperial playwright. Richard Rennick, the imperial playwright, has been charged with explaining the Thalani's role in the massive tidal wave that almost hit the port. While consulting on the play, Kaylin also has to figure what is happening with Marcus, his wives, and the baby she just delivered. This adventure tests the bonds of family that Kaylin has been building since she joined the Hawks. If you like seeing the creative process at work, this one gives you a glimpse into the process of a really interesting playwright!

This is the fourth installment in the Elantra series. It is a fantastic fantasy series with a completely unique world. So far, there has not been an overt romance. They are complex without being dense.

I love Michelle Sagara West.
I love her writing, her blog, and her personal philosophy as evidenced by the books she writes. The Chronicles of Elantra series is as good as any genre fiction being published today...and it's not even the best series she's currently writing.
Such talent, in a person less lovely and deserving, would be a source of envy.
As it is, I'm just happy I can buy her books.

I liked this one! I cared about Marcus and the rest of the leontines much more than I've cared about anyone else in this series, and that's what made the difference. I CARED.

Michelle Sagara's The Chronicles of Elantra series is one of my favorites and this title did not disappoint, A few of the books in this series have not been as strong in my opinion and this is one of those unfortunately but I still like it. The story was engaging and helped to move the plot along. I felt like I learned more about many of the characters including the protagonist in this volume. I recommend this book.

Yet another excellent entry into the series, yet another facet of the world unveiled. The history of Elantra is becoming clearer with each instalment, and I rather love the procedural style of each investigation. Classic comfort reading.
