This has everything I expect to find when I pick up one of Kalman's books: colorful illustrations, astute observations, and whimsical musings; but it also has these lovely, heartbreaking tales interspersed throughout the book.

gorgeous prose and imagery. so touching. it's one of those books where i know i'll be thinking about it over and over again, and will likely keep resonating deeper the older i get and the more i keep holding on.

I like Maira Kalyan and this is a beautiful book. She writes lovely verse about holding, and women, history, and all of it.

I loved this book so much, the pairing of the artwork and poetry together was incredible! Such a brilliant mediation on the role of women in society and their familial roles.
