I had to adjust my review after sitting on this one for a bit. There was a bit of recency bias, but not in the way you'd think. You see, I read another of this author's work right before Rebecca.

This one actually got bumped up from a rank under 4. I know. Rebecca? It may be not entirely for me. It has all the elements I like, and is beautifaully written, but it just did not connect.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm sorry. Jamaica Inn blows this one out of the water.
