4.5/5 stars

"You've got one of the crappiest offices in Central," Peabody told her. "It makes us proud."

Treachery in Death was a lot of fun. That's not something I occasionally associate with the In Death series. Yep, some installments are dark, some are emotional, some are complex, but this was fun. In Death books are always good, but sometimes I feel it straddles the 4 - 5 star rating. I'll go for an in-between, but what the heck, this is more than 4 stars.

This wasn't a whodunnit, but I loved it precisely because of that. Sure, it's not about finding the... persons involved, but it's more of how they're going to put them into bars.

Eve is a strong, determined and capable character with a strong sense of justice. I love that about her. I really liked how they wrapped up the case and put everything together for that final smackdown. It only made it much more meaningful- the importance of team work and standing up for what is right. There is so much satisfaction at seeing justice served towards the end.

There is much sneakiness involved in putting everything together. I, the reader knew what was going on behind the scenes while the bad guys were all ignorant. Ha!

The usual In Death cast is as usual, a joy to read, and- the candy thief is back (yay!).

The only thing I didn't like about this book was the obscene amount of ass-kissing. The plot and execution were good. But I feel there was too much time wasted with everyone sucking up to each other. We all know that Dallas and her team are great cops. In the end, it was a good, quick read.

More of a procedural than others in the series. Not my favorite.

🌶️🌶️ no but like, this one is GOOD.

J.D. Robb does it again. I love this series because it involves murder mystery with romance, two of my favorite genres all in one. I haven't read this series in order, but it doesn't really affect the story line too much if you don't. The plot was excellent, and from what I can tell, is different from her other books in the series, as it deals with dirty cops, which is always an interesting, if not sad, twist. There is plenty of action throughout the book and it was definitely hard to put down.
