This book follows Rudger, an imaginary friend, and Amanda (his real person)as they run away from an evil man who hunts imaginaries. Then Amanda is injured, leaving Rudger alone. Can Rudger evade the hunter and find Amanda before he fades?
I LOVED this book. So imaginative and illustrated so nicely.
Recommended for: Upper Elementary, Grades 4-8
Red Flags: some of the "fight" and chase scenes could be slightly scary.

1/6 books of Leeds Book Awards 2015 shortlist reread.
Wow, I remember this book and I still love every part of it. I've reread this a few times, not just this once, and each time I do I read it in one sitting. There's no other way to read this book. I even forced my dad to read this book when I was smaller because I loved it that much.
I think this is always going to be one of my favourites, no matter what other books I discover. Just... wow.

Siento que tuve demasiadas expectativas con este libro. No es malo, pero puedo decir que no era lo que me esperaba.

I bought The Imaginary because I’m going to the bookcrossing convention in Oxford and A. F. Harrold is going to be there so I wanted to read a book from him. I chose this one because it’s quite new and people have been saying nice things about it.
The Imaginary is a children’s book but I wouldn’t recommend it for the very small children because it’s a bit scary story. But it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year so far and the art is just perfect.

This was a very good story. I honestly really loved it. The art was beautiful and I love just /holding/ the book. The weight of it is very satisfying.
BUT.
Some things that happened in the book felt really strong to me. I wanted my mom to read this to my little siblings, but now I'm not sure? One of the characters (SPOILER) is eaten at one point by the monster that's after the MC, and it was downright terrifying. (END SPOILER) But it was still really delightful, and definitely worth the read. It is a very special little book.

This was a great story! I loved reading it and the illustrations were great. Such a different take on a friendship story and there was lots of action.
