This is for the super hero and haters alike! Even though Nubia is a super, she’s also just a teenage girl and in that is she incredibly relatable.

I hope that when DC considers a movie or TV show for Nubia, they'll adapt thus version onto the screen. It's very real and up to date to where we are in society

Literally fabulous! I cried and laughed and screamed and was so angry! Fucking white boys!!! This was well written and had amazing drawings. It is very focused on black trauma and the issues with police while also following the story of a young girl and her superpowers.

I loved this and I really hope there's a sequel. This is the first version of DC's Nubia that I've ever read before. I've heard that previous iterations of her character made her pretty one-dimensional and secondary to Diana, so I'm glad this imagining didn't follow suit. It was a lot more intense than I imagined it would be. I loved the art and the narrative overall.

CW: school shooting, violence, blood, sexual harassment, sexual assault, racism, police brutality, gun violence

I really enjoyed reading the origin story of Nubia. I didn't know her prior to reading this and I learned a lot! I loved the friend group she had and her trying to come to terms with her power and ultimately, trying to make a decision that felt right for her when it comes to heroism. There's a lot of important conversations in this graphic novel. However, do look at the trigger warnings before reading because it is a heavy read!

Art: The art took a bit to get used to for me, the colours are nice, the paneling okay, and I always like it when flashbacks are shown in different styles (bonus D.s and Nubias flashbacks are also different from eachother).
Story: I went in blind and the heavy themes kind of hit me by suprise at first, that said it is handled well and I like how the story never forgets that they are just kids/teens.
Her moms are great (also how cool is it that at this age people in media are allowed to be queer casually? I actaully read "moms" and first through I was misreading something)) and I love the relationship between the kids.
Also reading the words "Stop Murdering Black Trans Woman" and "Trans Lives Matter" was great.
