I needed a mental palate cleanser after my last read, and this was perfect. Kathleen's relationship with Marcus is coming along. The magical cats, Owen and Hercules, are still practicing their special talents. And it appears that Marcus' cat, Micah, may be "special" too. The mystery was good, the murderer not obvious.

These books are always so stinkin' cute!

I was pretty excited by the idea of magical kitties who solve crimes and looking forward to this book. I read through it in a short sitting and was a bit disappointed that the kitties didn't actually have a more active role in solving the mysteries! The protagonist may give them more credit but... they helped about as much as my cats help me with my work. I wasn't sold on the magical part but they sounded like awesome cats!

Overall this was a fairly G-rated book - the protagonist has a very handsome boyfriend (as we are reminded frequently). They kiss and eat meals together but that's about the most salacious behavior implied. It was a sweet book - and definitely something I would be comfortable reading and sharing with my young nieces or my grandmother. The writing was very good and flowed along pretty well. I might try some of the other magical cat stories if they crossed my path (I'm a sucker!).

This book in the series just didn't seem up to par for me. After story lines like finding out who killed Roma's dad or having Marcus as a prime suspect while Hope hunts down a killer, this story seemed to drag. I knew who the killer was from the first couple chapters, and the story seemed to divert through a bunch of subplots. I'm interested in Roma's wedding and the Harrys too, but they took away the momentum of the murder.
