An engaging book with interesting characters.
I really liked both Lincoln and Daisy but unnecessary conflict by end of book made ending rushed.

I've loved Lincoln Mathis from the day I met him and I've loved him like I've loved no other man before but now that I've finally read his story.. I feel underwhelmed?? slightly unsatisfied?? It was heartbreaking, yes. And damn my heart because it wouldn't stop hurting :'( But aside from that.. nada. I hate myself for saying this but it felt like I was only forcing myself to swoon over his and Daisy's story, tbh. There were some cute and sweet moments and those trademark Lauren Layne banters are still ever so present but I couldn't bring myself to giggle even though I wanted to. That was an even greater heartbreak for me.

I blame sleep deprivation honestly. I haven't slept a wink for more than 24 hours now and I've waited so damn long for this story that as soon as it was released I wanted to read immediately and to hell with sleeping. Well that lack of sleep has caught up to me now. I swear I'll try and reread this again when I finally have some good night's sleep and maybe then I'll end up loving this as much as I hoped I would. Because I just couldn't bear doing this to Lincoln. I feel like I owe it to him. (I know he's fictional but he's real in my heart. Shut up.)

The epilogue though *sniffs* Lincoln deserves all the happy in the world I'm so glad he got it. By far, his ending is my favorite out of all the others :')

I'm still giving this four starrs because Lincoln, obvs. Love u bb <3

✩ 4 stars.

’Daisy felt her eyes water, although for a different reason. She wondered if he felt it—wondered if he knew that this was the first time she’d let anyone hold her in years. Did he know? Did Lincoln know that the more he put her back together again, the more power he had to break her heart?’

i hate myself for not reading this book sooner. i had my own expectations for lincoln’s story but what i had been given was completely different. better. my favorite one in this series? can’t say just now because i still have ‘i knew you were trouble’ to get into. however, this one is definitely one my favorites by this author.
also, a little mention of lincoln’s puppy, kiwi! even her name is cute and her scenes with daisy and lincoln are even cuter!

p.s. chapter 26… i’ll be thinking about it for a while.

Well that was definitely worth the wait! Everyone who has been following Lauren Layne’s Oxford series has been waiting with bated breath for this book. I can say it was worth the wait, this story not only broke my heart it rebuilt it piece by piece.

Lincoln’s story was not what I thought would happen at all. This poor man has been sitting on a huge secret that no one could see coming. He has been holding this so close to heart even his best friends have no idea. Lincoln has come off as a playboy to all of his coworkers and friends, however deep down you always knew there was more to his story. In every book he has shamelessly flirted with all the women around him. This shameless carefree way was how he covered his deep secret to the world. However whenever Emma warns him to stay away from her twin sister Daisy he can’t seem to keep his promise of staying away. Not only does her recognize Daisy as a kindred soul, he finds himself baring his soul to her. Everything starts off platonic between both Daisy and Lincoln, until baring their souls to each other becomes more than friendship.

Daisy is coming off the wrong type of marriage to the wrong type of man. She is not looking for anything other than friendship with Lincoln, even her sister has warned her of his playboy ways. However when she sets sights on Lincoln she see’s through his facade instantly and realizes they could be fast friends. Two people who need to lean on one another through such a hard time. Not that being friends with the sexiest man alive is a hardship. Daisy realizes his friendship may be able to help her heart heal fully but can Lincoln recover enough from his broken heart to love again?

I really, really enjoyed the fact that Lauren Layne brought back all of the characters for this one. Even if we got to only see them for bits at a time, the whole Oxford/Stiletto gang was back together. Lauren Layne normally writes characters you can connect to and an emotionally engaging story. However this one… it was more than the average HEA. It spoke on so much more of a personal level. Everyone who has ever put their heart out there and had it broken then tried to make themselves emotionally available again will relate to this story. Both characters are broken for different reasons… yet have to trust each other enough not to be hurt again.
