The cultural appropriation got to be too much for me. This book is filled with white savior narratives and all the negatives surrounding modern white witchcraft. Very disappointing.

Autorky P. C. Cast a Kristin Cast už můžete znát díky velmi známé sérii Škola noci.

My favourite part of Spells Trouble was the premise. I liked the idea of twin sisters being responsible for protecting their town. Even though Mercy and Hunter of course have different personalities, I found their voices to be way too similar.
Overall too much exposition in beginning, and although I enjoyed the plot, the execution was insufficient. I am a little curious abut what happens next, if want young adult fantasy that is quick and easy read, read this book.

This is your reminder that it’s okay to not finish a book.

I made it 18 percent of the way through this book. Only 18 percent before I just couldn’t. I absolutely hate not finishing a book but I’ve recently realized I will never be able to finish my TBR lists. So why waste my time powering through books I hate when I can cut my losses and move on to one that’s at least mildly entertaining?

I can’t even begin to tell you if this is a good plot because I barely made it there. The description sounds good but you have to be able to make it past all the dialogue of the exact same voice no matter which character is speaking. No originality amongst any of the teens except a perverted boyfriend which was cringe and gross. Can’t even tell the twins apart. Which wouldn’t be the most terrible thing except that the whole thing is how they are SO different. The mother also gave off a teen vibe with the sexual comments and innuendos to go with it.

Yeah.

Went with the audio book as I could listen on the way to work. While getting ready. Etc. Etc. I’m not sure if it was the narrator or what but I felt like it dragged. To me the prologue was the most interesting bit. Everything else happening after that felt rather…bland?

I picked this book because I absolutely love witches, my great grandma always said that my ancestors were Polish witches.
I wanted to love this book, it was a cute change from what I have been reading recently. I liked it but didn’t love it. I loved the idea of how the town was created. Sometimes I felt like things were thrown in that didn’t really need to be there. Jax and Hunters trip to get the pesticide for the worms was one scene that I thought was not needed. I loved these two authors when I was a teenager and I’m not going to give up on them now. I will be reading the next one!
