So I just finished reading Lilac by B.B Reids. Idk how I feel about it tbh. I thought I would hate it (when I eventually figured out what was going on) but it surprised me and it was okayish. The book was definitely not my style but the writing was good and the author knew what she was doing... Story is about 3 Rockstars who are looking for a new guitarist, before their world tour and their manager hires a girl called Braxton, and they all thought Braxton was a guy until they met her.
The 3 guys were not impressed, and they shunned her out, were rude, and ignored her most of the time. But they all thought she was hot. So she eventually dates all 3 of them 💀 don't know how. Definitely not my cup of tea I don't think I'll read something like that again.

I think I struggle to relate to the stereotypical FMC who cannot communicate...
It takes me out of the story. I wanted a simple, easy read, and this was just poorly written angst wrapped in a reverse harem plot.
The booktok account who suggested this to me made it sounds exciting, but it was predictable and not overly enjoyable. The story had a lot of opportunity to delve into some world building, setting up some more complex scenarios and instead it was just some characters which were average at best having a lot of sex. I am all for sex in a book, but I want to earn the smut, you know?
Anyway, would not reccommend.
