*4.5 "Tony's a naughty boy" stars*

Well, where do I begin? BHE is a companion to Consequences, the first book in the Consequences series. Told exclusively in his POV and certain scenes, Tony is a man to be feared. Despite knowing many of the outcomes that took place in Consequences, re-reading these scenes through his perspective was titillating and terrifying.

bhe

One moment Tony was a monster...
"That scream told Anthony that she understood her behavior was unacceptable. He wanted more."

and the next he was a charmer...
It was as he handed Claire a glass of champagne that his anxiety began to wane. He saw in her eyes-those green eyes-her unfulfilled need for his approval. This time, he smiled and whispered in her ear, "You are truly lovely tonight."

Behind His Eyes brought me right back to the pain, anger, and absolute hate I felt for Tony in the beginning of this series. I was captivated. Terrified. And highly entertained.

I was really looking forward to reading this. I did appreciate the author adding the chapter reference from Consequences, but I wished I had time to read them both together. There were things I had forgotten about. I also have to say I could have gone without revisiting the "movie screening" because I've fallen in love with Tony and that reminded me why he was also a monster. I also enjoyed reading more about his relationship with Catherine. Very fascinating.

Truth was my favorite book in the Consequences series so I was so excited to read this book. I wasn't disappointed. Getting inside Tony's head is a double edge sword because in some ways it makes it harder to defend him. The scene at the gala seemed more fucked up reading it from his perspective. However, I loved getting to see him struggle to give Claire her independence when it went against everything in him. Plus, from this perspective, it removed any doubt how much he loves Claire.
My only complaint was the Sophia stuff. I never liked that storyline in the regular series so I wasn't overly interested in it from Tony's perspective. I do wish there were more details about how Tony got to the island. I'm still unclear how that all went down.
As always, Aleatha Romig's writing is incredible. She knows these characters so well that every word feels genuine. Can't wait for the last book and HOPEFULLY a nice long behind the scenes of the future :)

Truth was my favorite book in the series so I was really looking forward to this book and the author did not disappoint. I loved seeing Tony's point of view of several key scenes. It did make some things feel a little creepier (the dinner where he sabotaged Claire's date) but it was really helpful to see Tony's perspective when they conceived their baby. It definitely helped to see that.
I am really excited to read the last book!

It's not that I am not enjoying the books, its I just really hate the character. I am continuing because I want to see what Claire does.

This book being in his POV really doesn't nothing for me other than having a fantastic narrator.

AMAZING!!! I fell in love with Anthony Rawlings during "Truth" and after reading his feelings in BHE-Truth it just proved to me that Tony was not as wicked as we thought. Old dogs can truly learn new tricks and people really can change, Aleatha Romig crawled into the mind of a man that many believed was so evil that most could never forgive his behavior. I felt in "Truth" that Tony proved his love to Claire and this inside look just showed me that it happened way before I belived it happened in "Truth." I loved that this companion book flowed beautifully with the main story especially since it has been almost a year since my brain was initially screwed up and drawn into this twisted crazy story. I can't wait to read what happened during the missing years!!!

I'm still really conflicted about this series but I really enjoyed seeing this side of the story, especially the parts that deal with the ending to the first book. At the end of the first book it was difficult to understand why Tony turned on Claire when he did and this book makes it easier to understand. Really looking forward to reading Behind his Eyes Truth because Truth was when this series got really good.
