While I don't normally review books that I DNF, I am going to with this one. I am giving this review based on the tales in the book that I did read.
Book/Story: (Will give average rating for each section of tales)
Book Cover: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
POV: Third Person (each individual tale)
Series/Standalone: Standalone
Part of an interconnected series: No
Safe or Dark: Safe
Asleep In The Dark - (Average Rating) ⭐⭐.5
The Forest Of The Yew - ⭐⭐
The Apple Tree Man - ⭐⭐
The Travelling Tree - ⭐
Mossycoat - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Quickening - (Average Rating) ⭐⭐⭐
Bride And The Cailleach - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Crooker - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Fairy Widower - ⭐⭐
The Basketmaker’s Donkey - ⭐
Moan And The Willow - ⭐⭐
Struggle And Hope - (Average Rating)⭐⭐
The Green Mist - ⭐⭐⭐
Goblin Combe - ⭐
Betty Stags And The Fairies - ⭐⭐⭐
No Man’s Land - ⭐
Joy And Sunshine - (Average Rating) ⭐⭐⭐.25
The Fairy Shawl - ⭐⭐
Yallery Brown - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Field - ⭐⭐⭐
The Tulip Pixies - ⭐⭐⭐
The Height Of The Green - (Average Rating) (of what I read)⭐⭐⭐
The Juniper Tree - ⭐
The Legend Of Knockgrafton - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jack And The Beanstalk - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I had to give an average rating of the overall book (at least the part that I read), it would be two stars. While I enjoyed some of the tales, they were just way too dry for my taste. Some were too short and left me wanting more detail. They ended abruptly, and I had to go back and make sure I didn't miss some pages before starting the next story in the series.
I do think the stories were grouped nicely. But I just couldn't force myself to go on. Reading this nearly put me in a coma.
I'm glad I only spent 99 cents on this book.

Presented by order of the Wheel of the Year, beginning with the Winter Solstice, this is a charming collection of tales set around the British and Irish landscape that encourage your love of nature to flourish.
Centered around all things botanical, with some tales taking a traditional approach and others adapted for our rapidly changing world, Schneidau is a natural storyteller. From the botanical spin on the classic fairytale of Cinderella to whimsical and fantastically creative tales featuring the likes of a ferocious river that can only be tamed by flowers, there is something for everyone.
With a simple structure that works well with bedtime reading, or to dive in and read all at once, these folk tales have proved a timely choice of inspired reading as the UK slowly turns itself over into the pleasant times of Spring.
