Highly contemplative about themes of idolatry of physical beauty and freedom, as well as the nature versus nurture debate with regard to self-identity and maturity, set against a very relatable soap opera-ish setting of sibling and familial love and conflict, written in nuanced and touching prose, with a satisfying ending. Beautiful indeed.

I struggled to make it half way through this book. Either the writing is bad (mostly telling and barely showing) or the translation is bad. Either way, I felt nothing for the characters or the plot. It reads like a children's Bible story disguised as literature.
