3.5 - Adriana Herrera can do no wrong. I especially enjoyed the family drama of this one! Sexual tension with the MC and love interest is fantastic

Thank you to the publisher and author for my ARC copy!

This was very cute! But... it felt very rushed. It reads more like a novella and coming in at just over 200 pages it felt like there was a lot to work through.

I deeply loved Esme from page one - she knows who she is, and while she can jump to conclusions she knows when she is wrong but she is consistently brave and bold. Rodrigo felt a little... wishy-washy to me. I wanted to like him the whole time and I did in the end - but sometimes it felt like he was in fact a sell-out and it wasn't a good look. Their connection was intense but so much of it was just referenced in short bursts that it didn't carry the weight Herrera seemed to be aiming for. Again - a lot of this felt like it happened because it was short.

It’s a good small package.
Lighthearted and fun. It’s a sentimental work according to the author. A book for her mom I venture to say. I enjoyed it.

Dominican romance book for the win!
hopeful lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I enjoyed this story, I enjoyed the characters and I loved the Dominican aunties since it made me think of my own lol. I'm not sure if this was because of the audiobook narration or the writing style, but the spicier moments had me feeling a bit of awkwardness with some of the cliché dialog. I also think it lacked a bit more of a build up, which could very well just be my personal preference. Overall, I would say this is a great quick easy read that could be good as a "palette cleanser" of sorts.

This was so fun, dramatic (in telenovela style) and steamy. The main characters had a lot of chemistry and they were easy to root for. My one issue is that the heroine forgot quite easily (before she knew the truth) about what he did to her, which didn't seem realistic when she has been angry at him for 10 years, but I didn't mind it too much.

This category was a beautiful, passionate, tight story of childhood friends to enemies to lovers…

Esmeralda and Rodrigo didn’t get their HEA the first time, instead family drama broke them apart… now they’re up against each other for the CEO position in the Latinx network E’s father founded…

The spice and sizzle crackled from page 1… loved the heat and the strength of both characters. I’d read this one again for sure

Esmeralda is everything a perfect heroine should be. Strong, yet vulnerable, and just really badass. Rodrigo has some work to do on himself after a lifetime of working toward just one goal, but he’s not going to lose the woman he loves a second time. An awesome book (and I want Perla’s book now)!
