I loved this!
I love anything from Portia though. These books always give me the warm fuzzies.
I don’t even know what book I’m up to in my binge. I think it’s maybe 5, or 6 now! Still so many more to go. I can’t wait!

3.5/5

Perhaps if I hadn’t read this back to back with The Plus One Pact I would have enjoyed it more, but there was just too much overlap. At least 1 joke was reused, both involved insecure women who drink far too much and completely change the way they dress for men (tight dresses they’re uncomfortable with but wear anyway because a male friend tells them it looks sexy—1 dress was even used in both books), and both involve scenic getaways. This book, however, wasn’t as well written as it’s companion (and I’m not just talking about the typos and run-one), so I constantly found myself comparing the two and having this one come up short. It had its really cute moments, but if you’re looking to try Portia MacIntosh, read The Plus-one Pact instead of this one.

What I read: My Great Ex-Scape by Portia MacIntosh

Why I picked it up: I read a book by her last week and decided to use up my monthly Hoopla credits with another since I enjoyed it so much.

How I read it: On audio at 1.75x.

What it’s about: Rosie is handed two tickets to a game show her boss can’t attend and ends up winning the whole 50k prize when her boyfriend acts as the lifeline for her final question. But before he answers the question, he dumps her … at least she got a nice consolation prize. Then some flowers show up from an ex and she decides to visit her past ex-boyfriends to figure out which one wanted a second chance. This leads her to a cruise to NYC involving a lot of shenanigans.

What I liked: I appreciated the humor of her relationship with Eli throughout, he ended up being a very good friend to her!

What I disliked: Maybe there could have been a little more development with Josh while she was on the cruise the first time, but it was okay as it was.

Genre: Closed door romance, rom com.

Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and sure, I’m going to continue to read this author!

Well Portia has done it again. Another absolutely wonderful read which has gripped me from the very beginning.
I am a huge fan of Portia, every new book makes me have a new favourite. Portia is an extremely talented author who has the ability to create such magical and fantastic reads.
This book has made me both laugh and want to cry. Imagine being dumped on live TV, although funny I cringed for the main character and felt quite frustrated when said Ex-boyfriend thought he was owed.
We follow Rosie on her journey to find who sent her the flowers. I have to be honest, I think I joined team Josh from the very first reconnection. The chemistry was evident from that first moment.
This is a book which has allowed me to escape to a cruise ship for the afternoon. It is definitely a must read and as always I wish I could give Portia more than five stars for this gorgeous read. Five stars really does not do this wonderful read justice.
I honestly can't wait to see what Portia has in store for us next. I already know it will be a superb read which I will love.
emotional funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This was a light and funny romcom! Really easy read. It's not a standout book for me, but it certainly made me laugh.

I honestly don't know why it took me so long to read this book. It's fantastic and it feels like a big warm blanket was wrapped around me. I honestly couldn't put it down. This book is about a woman who revisits her past to be able to find her future. Sounds cheesy I know but it was tastefully done with a great main character, her adorable parents and her fabulous best friend (who I really want to adopt as my own). This is definitely a light and easy read but it definitely will give you all the happy thoughts. 100% recommended for anyone who needs something sweet and fun.

Rosie is a journalist who hates her job and is dumped by her boyfriend Dinosaur Dave on live TV during phone a friend part for a quiz show.
This gets her viral and trapped making her deactivate all of her social media. She returns home to a bouquet of flowers with a note saying the messenger wants her back.
Her journey to find out who the sender from the list of her ex-boyfriends is laugh out loud, embarrassing, light hearted, uplifting read.
Rosie's character is wonderful and fantastic with self doubt.
All the characters that come in are so well written.
My favourite character from this story is Eli ( Rosie's one of the ex-boyfriend) with all his going out of the way to help nature.
It is funny and I have enjoyed reading every bit of it.

I love her best friend!
