This was a really enjoyable read. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and sometimes it even left me staring at my wall for a moment or two, thinking about life and society in general.

This was a nice book that has been written by the author of 'Marley and Me'. It wasn't what I expected to read as I thought it would be more about Marley, however it was a nice read despite not being what I first thought. Having the different columns meant that the book was a light easy read that could be put down and picked up easily.

My mother bought me this book a few years ago after she saw a dog on the cover. I love love LOVE dogs.
I have refrained from reading it because it's short articles about random things, not a lot about dogs. And it is clearly stated that John Grogan gets zero profit. Basically the publisher and the newspaper in Philly he worked for are profiting.
Well.... I'm glad I read it. His writings are so thoughtful, some sad others are so uplifting. This embodies what journalism is all about, telling stories. Making people feel some emotion whether good or bad. A pleasantly delightful read.

Bad Dogs Have More Fun is a collection of seventy-five plus newspaper articles from The Philadelphia Inquirer, written by former columnist John Grogan. The stories center around family, animals and life.

💭 T H O U G H T S

The cover and the title are very misleading here, both used as a marketing tool by The Philadelphia Inquirer hoping to cash in on the success of John Grogan's Marley & Me. While these are his stories, he was not involved in the publication of this collection. Some of the stories are good and entertaining, but many weren't so good, and taken as a whole it fell flat. It helped tandem reading with the audio and many stories tell of everyday life that readers can relate to.

"The rhythm of solitude, once so intimidating, began to feel comfortable. Aloneness, I was learning, does not have to equal loneliness."

A lot of these stories were pretty funny. If you loved the style that Marley and Me was written in, then you will love this book. Some of the Articles were hilarious, others thought provoking, and a few were sad. Overall this was an enjoyable, light read that was surprisingly deep. I liked it.

I read Marley and Me years and years ago, and on the strength of my enjoyment then, my parents got me this one.

… It was not particularly enjoyable.

More than two thirds of the book has nothing to do with dogs; the remaining portion is mostly inane and superficial, except for a digression into recommending Cesar Millan’s methods. The bits that have nothing to do with dogs are…also inane. There’s nothing here that other writers haven’t said much, much better.
