I don’t know how she does it, but P.G. Forte continues to wow me with the third installment of her Children of the Night series! Now Comes the Night could be read alone, but I think that you’ll get much more out of the story if you read the previous installments (In the Dark and Old Sins, Long Shadows) - they really explain the complexities of the relationships between the characters. And yes, these people/vampires have issues; There’s reunited lovers, siblings, love interests - you run the gamut here and yet it’s not so angst ridden that you feel frustrated. Ms Forte does a fabulous job of providing a story with multiple layers - the “b” plots were just as compelling as the main driving force for the installment. Like mystery? Got it. Does suspenseful intrigue get your motor running? It’s there. Maybe you like a nice healthy helping of between the sheets action? If so, this is the book for you! As much as the daily details of the Quintano-Fischer clan are paranormal, they’re still wondering about the mundane, and that I found really appealing and made me love the book even more.

Even their secondary characters gave me pause. Heather and Nighthawk were endearing as siblings by choice, and Georgia never fails to gain my interest. If you like a story packed with excitement and passion that will stay with you long after you turn the final page, Now Comes the Night by P.G. Forte is perfect for you! I’m looking forward to her next installment (due in May 2013) - Ashes of the Day. Well done Ms. Forte!
