This is pretty far outside my wheelhouse, so I feel like my ability to review it is limited.

Here’s what I do know:

-This is not an introduction to the stock market or investing. This book is intended for people who are familiar with the difference between stocks and bonds, who know about dividend yields, and who perhaps already have opinions about those things. Having said that, this book is not at all inaccessible to stock market noobs.

-This book is not thrilling but it’s also not boring! Much more readable and interesting than I would expect for a book of this genre

-The main idea of this book can be summed up in a single sentence: long-term investing in index funds is the best strategy.

I doubt I’ll read anymore Bogle books simply because I don’t need anymore convincing and I don’t care enough about WHY this is the best strategy.

Glad I read and I’m definitely convinced that this is the investment strategy for me!

Bogle has a lot of advice for the average underbody looking at how to make their money work for them. By the end of the book you'll know a simple, but not necessarily easy, way to not worry about your investments.

The first three quarters of the book rail hard against what one may think investing is (an expensive mutual fund, picking the right stocks, getting to time the market) and contrasts it with the tools that are sensible and will give you your fair share of the economy (using low cost, passively managed index funds that track the whole stock market).

One criticism, as I read through the book I caught myself at times getting lost in the financial terminology used. It's still a worthwhile read, but if a friend asks for advice in more likely to paraphrase the book rather than have them read it outright.

All in all, a solid recommendation for anyone who wants to figure out what to do with their long term money goals.

It’s insightful. Definitely learnt but repetitive. However, I’m definitely walking away with some pointers which is all that matters. Author is a legend and it’s an honour to read his book

Excellent philosophy

General overview and some details about how index funds beat the vast majority of actively traded investment strategies. Enjoyed it a lot.

For a book on investing with a lot of numbers, charts, and other exhibits this was pretty easy to read overall. However I can mostly sum it up with this idea: invest in low cost index funds, actively managed high cost mutual funds are bad, don't try to beat the stock market, carry a diversified and long term portfolio with something between a 25/75 to 75/25 split of stocks and bonds. Nonetheless glad to think more about investment strategy.

Great advice for anyone interested in investing.

However, as a book, it is repetitive. I ended up skimming most chapters once I got further into the book. Nearly every chapter is a repeat of “mutual funds have high management costs and therefor are a bad investment compared to index funds.”.
