This is more of a musing than a review! It was nice to revisit these poems that I probably haven't read in full for many years. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is especially dear to me since I remember discussing it after a first read with my grandma who had read it while she was in school. There was something fantastic about that. I enjoyed rereading the other poems as well and be able to look at them in a different light than when I was 17. I knew there was a reason I had kept this on my shelf!

Solid, enjoyable collection. The two big poems were great to revisit, really like Kubla Khan, and the rest of the collection set a great mood, well written and had some very nice imagery. Loved the wholesome stuff and the celebration of nature.

This slim volume of four poems from Coleridge includes his best known pieces ("The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and "Kubla Khan") as well as "Christabel", a piece that was completely new to see and is really the highlight of the volume. This mysterious poem of transformation and salvation is really quite a remarkable piece, and I'm glad I discovered it in these pages!

Of course, these poems are great. I revisited these on a whim and I'm glad I did. I forgot how much of a narrative bias Coleridge had.

This Dover edition is ho hum. Nothing but the bare poems, but hey, my copy cost me $1.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poems can by now be categorised as some of the classic writings in English litterateur. Reading this was a tad bit difficult, but I’m glad I held on to the last page.

Reading the title poem, The Poem of the Ancient Mariner, places me somewhere rocking along on a quiet ocean with the smell of seaweed caught in my nose. I liked this poem a lot despite its slightly cryptic build.

The ‘other poems’-part was also worth the read. Some more than other. There was a poem of him as he sets his eyes on his newborn child for the first time. There was one of the jealousy between women, although I would argue, it could be interpreted differently as well.

I liked this book. And if you’re looking for a rhyme-and-rhythm collection, this collection might be for you.

Beautiful edition but I am not sure about the shiny paper on which it is printed. Just re-read because of recent re-read of Frankenstein. A remarkable piece of poetry, dramatic, accessible, atmospheric and thought provoking.
