While this was an attempt for Emily to take control of her narrative, the essay collection fails to generalize any of its themes or messages to women and society as a whole. I wish I had come away with more food for thought regarding the topics discussed in this book (like the commodification of women’s bodies.) I’m glad this was a cathartic writing experience for Emrata, but I also feel like this book could’ve just been several sessions between her and her therapist.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Listened to the audiobook and it really made a difference! Solid 4 stars!

I think the content in this book in some of the essays are important. Writing wasn’t great and some of the essays were a bit boring.
